A Recent Advance on Partial Evaporating Organic Rankine Cycle: Experimental Results on an Axial Turbine

The organic Rankine cycle (ORC) technology is an efficient way to convert low-grade heat from renewable sources or waste for power generation. partial evaporating (PEORC) can be considered as a promising alternative it offer higher utilization of the source. An experimental investigation small ORC system used in full evaporation mode performed. First characterized superheated mode, which corresponds standard behavior, semi-empirical correlative approach involving traditional non-dimensional turbomachinery parameters (specific speed, pressure ratio) accurately describe one-phase turbine performance. In second step, two-phase behavior experimentally investigated. efficiency loss caused by inlet condition quantified and acceptable. operation allows increase amount recovered ability operate two phases provides new degree flexibility when designing PEORC. then completed take into account partially evaporated condition. qualitative description quantitative correlations modes were applied different pure working fluids (Novec649TM, HFE7000 HFE7100) well zeotropic mixture (Novec649TM/HFE7000).
